I believe that the exemption from responsibility gets you a full swing exemption from life of meaningful education.
Removing the element of responsibility creates an environment that falsely glorifies emotional, interpersonal and liability safety net. One should pursue the life of challenges and mistakes not a liability free freefall experience.
The young individuals that I find myself surrounded by live the least challenging and most stressfree lives in the history yet the education (not only in academic terms) is in shatters more than ever. Young people are failed daily by the endless systems around them and the families are unable to continue the generational responsibility of educating on a grass root level. The freedom of consequence free decision making from the very early age is somehow damaging our kids’ cognitive abilities; that in return affects the generations’ will and ability to experience multidimensional problem solving, planning ahead and risk assessing in their daily lives.
A young individual left our company lately after achieveing an easy and extremely small in size dream. This is not to say that those small victories aren’t important but rather to explain how disappointing it is for him not to be able to use this as a stepping stone towards bigger things. The small and short lasting victories are important but they pose a threat to your future life if you are unable to use them as a part of a bigger picture. The drive necessary to persevere and continue to grow when the end of the road is neigh is what continues the personal, emotional and social development of the individual. Removing the road ahead when the first destination is reached creates the false sense of ultimate achievement and removes the element of opportunity for further development.
The balance I need to maintain to ensure further destinations don’t come across as discouraging and damning the small victories, is an art I need to master.
If you work with me please challenge me every day. If I work with you please set my goals higher than the yesterday’s. If we work together please do dream bigger with me every day.
…and continue to drive with me as I am never going to reach the destination.
